Graham Morris
Graham brings over 30 years of financial services distribution related experience, the majority of which comes from working across a wide variety of Asian markets, and in a wide variety of channels. He started in agency and broker sales in the UK, moving up to senior management roles in Sales Training and Bancassurance partnerships, before moving to Asia in early 1995. His first project in Asia was the successful management of the benchmark bancassurance operation at Maybank in Malaysia in the mid 90's; being subsequently involved in managing, developing, improving and implementing sales and marketing initiatives, and distribution channels in insurance, banking, investment and wealth management companies. His consulting work also includes a significant amount of strategic consulting, including advising both banks and insurers during the M&A process – working as an adviser both on the ‘buy’ and sell’ sides respectively. He jointly founded the Distribution Consulting Practice for Watson Wyatt, based in Hong Kong, in 2002 where the focus was on providing distribution related sales and marketing advice and services to insurance companies and banks across Asia – from Pakistan to Indonesia. This included strategic distribution channel development, market entry and partner development, through to operational sales, marketing and implementation of new channels – as well as enhancements to existing channels. Graham brings rich experience of a multiple range of roles, experience in a wide arrange of consulting areas, a wide variety of channels working across a diverse number of Asian markets. His recent corporate senior management roles include regional partnership development and wealth management, including being based in Beijing for two years as the Chief Distribution Officer for a joint venture with the largest state owned enterprise in China where he was in charge of 5 distribution channels across 12 provinces including a significant agency channel. Additional consulting work in Asia includes the design and implementation of a range of business plans for market entry; reviews of distribution strategy and approach; developing approaches to banks to secure partnerships and the implementation of operational sales models.
Doug Sumner
Doug undertakes projects that are typically focused on retail financial services matters such as: Bancassurance, insurance and investment product development, growth/sales and marketing strategy including brand and positioning, M&A, strategic alliances, and distribution strategy. In addition, he consult to Boards and CEOs on a range of matters, particularly in the areas of investment policy, investment restructure and Board governance issues. Doug travels extensively around the Asia Pacific and the Middle East and Africa regions consulting and training on Bancassurance, Financial Planning/Wealth Management Banking and Insurance product development and Organisational Strategy. In particular, he is well known for the Bancassurance and Investment ‘Masterclasses’ that he prepares and presents and has trained several hundred banking and insurance staff in the principles and practices of Bancassurance, Financial Planning and Investment Governance over the last decade. Doug also advise a growing number of major Not for Profits, Trusts and Foundations on their investments and various other matters around governance and strategy. During his corporate career Doug held senior management positions in Bancassurance, Wealth Management, Marketing and Product Development for organisations such National Australia Bank, AIA, Aviva, Cigna. Doug also regularly Chairs and speaks at international financial services conferences and is highly regarded as a thought leader on retail financial services. Doug has over 35 years of experience working across Asia, Australia and Africa in Insurance, Bancassurance and Wealth Management.
Gary Denson
With over 35 years experience, 20 across Asia, in executive management, and sales and marketing roles within the financial sector, Gary is a highly respected, hands-on leader whose engaging style and results-driven focus has earned him and the companies he leads, significant success. Prior to joining Shoreline, Gary has held a number of senior positions in the Banking and Insurance Industries including: CEO - Direct Asia Singapore CEO Cigna Thailand CEO Asia Pacific, Remark Gary has also held senior roles within AIG Asia and The Bank of Melbourne. During his time with ReMark as Asia Pacific CEO, and previously with Cigna Regional and AIG, Gary was responsible for leading region wide direct marketing initiatives, including: • Direct response marketing programs across India, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, The Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand using face-to-face, direct marketing and outbound telemarketing • Launching data analytics into campaigns to deliver significant performance improvements • Setting up 25 new Business Partner MOU’s & was key relationship manager for Citibank and HSBC • Establishing major Bancassurance alliances in HK, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia with major local and multi-national Banks
